PROMOTION PROCESS
When I have the opportunity to incorporate drawings into my projects I will prefer to work with pen and ink. This will create a high contrast drawing that will provide me with more options to bring in vector illustration or photoshop effects and filters.
WEB SITE FINAL PROMOTION IMAGE
The above image was created for the Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotional materials. The company I work for has developed and created audio recording software for home and professional studios. It is a track based recording software that would appeal to all kinds of musicians and recording professionals. Because of this audience, we set out to have some fun and create a theme around art and graphics typically seen with concert posters, CD album covers, and music apparel. The original tagline created for the official advertising for Mixcraft 7 was "It has landed" which featured an image of a spaceman arriving on earth. From that theme, I created other materials that would go along with that first advertising campaign for the software.
INK ILLUSTRATION ASTRONAuT
This image was inspired by a poster that was created for a band performing at a small venue. I enjoy seeing advertising art incorporating clip art from the 30's and 40's, old nostalgic photos and etchings. Reference to retro images can be eye-catching when used out of their original context and placed with a new purpose. I thought it would be effective to have the astronaut out of context holding the software box.
SOCIAL MEDIA ANIMATED PROMOTION
After the image was made I then created a series of web banners and newsletter graphics from it. The image above was created to be an animated gif. The spinning stars in the background really added an orbiting effect (the gif image may only play the spinning once, but it was created to spin endlessly).
